Can't get a cat

Had to go to an allergy specialist today. Came up off the charts positive for dust mites, grass (which i knew I didn't react well to), and...really a big surprise...cats. Have to do allergy shots for awhile to desensitize, but still won't be able to get Mimi or myself a cat. Maybe I'll be able to get off asthma inhalers, at least on a regular basis. I can still consider a dog or a small bird, though.

And any finch species including canaries will not carry the dust on the feathers which all parrot species have. And that does definitely include parakeets. They all have a fine dust on their feathers and it's been years so I don't remember what it's called but plenty of people who haven't been tested for allergies can get headaches after awhile having them. The dust is virtually invisible to the naked eye.
As I say, canaries and other finches don't have this.

oh my... I LOVe the little cheepy chirpy sound finches make... if I wasn't so scared about my kitties eating them, I'd love to get a couple finches

You could get a sphynx cat if you were prepared to fork out the money for one. They're hairless, and so, the saliva (which is actually the thing you're alergic to) can be wiped off daily with a damp cloth.
